All are invited to join OPIRG Peterborough for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday January 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Gzowski College Gathering Space. The AGM is free, open to everybody, and includes delicious food and rad people.

For 44 years, the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG) has been working on social and environmental justice in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough. Located in Sadleir House at 751 George St, OPIRG runs events, programs, and research projects while also supporting other organizations in town. Some of the work OPIRG has done this year includes; continuing to run the Free Market, running the Green Dishes program, hosting 25 free events in the last semester, and organizing Trent University’s DisOrientation week.

Join OPIRG at the AGM to hear their annual report, whilst also enjoying free food provided by Food Not Bombs. There will also be board member elections, which you can take part in. If you’re interested in becoming a board member, please visit their website at opirgptbo.ca/join_us/join-the-board/ or email opirg@trentu.ca!

Also at the AGM, the Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre will be facilitating a smudge kit workshop. They will guide participants through the making of a smudge kit, which you can bring home with you at the end of the day.

In summary, this is a night to meet the faces behind OPIRG. You can learn from the people of the Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre, share your ideas, learn how to get involved, and eat a lot of good food. We hope to see you there!
