There will always be someone in charge. This is an inescapable fact. Even the communal First Nations Peoples had a chief, and even the collectivist Bolsheviks had Lenin. The Libertarians think themselves immune to leadership, and to corruption. They are, in fact, the most subject to these things.
To you, fellow Trent student, I extend the following warning; do NOT trust the Libertarians. I am fully aware of the severity of the following claim, and please know that I wholeheartedly mean it when I say, that Libertarianism is the single most dangerous political movement since the rise of Fascism.
Allow me to elucidate; Libertarianism is such a complex and disorganised notion, that Libertarians themselves cannot clearly and concisely tell you what it is. They don’t know. They claim that there are numerous types of Libertarian, and there are, but most Libertarians of all stripes strive for one common goal. That goal is the destruction of the established order, and the creation of a power vacuum, wherein they can step up and implement their agenda of Social Darwinism and power lust. There are some Libertarians who do not belong to this common goal, such as Marxist-Libertarians, and Socialist-Libertarians, both completely oblivious to the fact that Marxism and Socialism were both never intended to be entwined with other ideologies.
The primary intention of Libertarianism, as they claim, is to promote liberties and opportunities for the individual. It’s essentially a rebirth of the fundamentals outlined by the founding fathers of the United States, with a key difference; Washington glorified hard work and just reward, and Libertarianism glorifies greed and Self-Worship.
What Libertarianism really is, is the narcissistic and selfish belief that other human beings are tools and buffers for one’s own personal gain. It is Social-Anarchistic-Cannibalism.
While most but not all Libertarian ideologies hold Atheism as an important core, Libertarianism does have a sacred scripture; the novel Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
The largest Libertarian movement on Earth is the Tea Party, and is figureheaded by Ron Paul and his son Rand Paul. That’s right, the ideology that prioritises the individual and promotes the saturation of one’s self interest has leaders. What Libertarian supporters don’t realise, is that they are pawns to their leaders. Just as the Catholic church of Martin Luther’s day knew that indulgences would not get bad men into heaven, Libertarian leaders know that someone will always be in charge. And they want it to be them.
Libertarians claim to be “completely alien to the traditional Left, Right, or Centre”. (Arthur, 48.0, pg. 14). While this labeling system for the political spectrum is from the French Revolution, it has always been relevant, and always will be. Libertarians think they are exempt from this system, but this system has been quintessential to our understanding of politics for about 200 years. Libertarianism, if it replaces the traditional system, will simply become it. It is the ultimate reset button for politics.
The prime example of Libertarian paradise is the nation of Somalia; firearms are readily available to the public, there is no welfare, there is no healthcare, there is no effective police force, the state hardly funds education, and children who don’t work to support themselves starve in the street. The most admirable feature of Somalia to the Libertarian are the pirates who take direct and full control of their own lives. The pirates steal items from people who failed to take responsibility and secure them.
More heinously, they take human beings who are too lazy or weak to defend themselves, and put them for sale and ransom. A child gets sold into sex slavery, and the pirate who did it gets to buy the Cuban cigars that he worked to earn in his competitive free-market with the other pirates.
That is Libertarianism.
The bottom line is this; Libertarianism is a parasitic ideology that can attach itself to a society, corrupt it, corrode it, and finally destroy it. We saw this on October 29, 1929. It is the influenza of nations. It is a marriage of the lawlessness of Anarchism, and the Social Cannibalism of National-Socialism, topped off with the replacement of God worship by self worship.
And to our American friends, I want you to read and heed the words of Will McAvoy in the HBO show The Newsroom when he describes the Tea Party; “Ideological purity, Compromise as weakness, A fundamental belief in scriptural literalism, denying science, unmoved by facts, undeterred by new information, a hostile fear of progress, a demonization of education, a need to control women’s bodies, severe xenophobia, tribal mentality, intolerance of dissent, and a pathological hatred of the US government. They can call themselves the Tea Party. They can call themselves Conservatives. And they can call themselves Republicans, though Republicans certainly shouldn’t. But we should call them what they are; The American Taliban.”
