The Kawartha Sexual Assault Center is planning a Celebration!
On October 14th, we will be looking back on 40 years of advocacy, empowerment, and community support while reaching forward to envision what the next 40 years could hold. In an evening of music, art, and rogue feminism, we will come together to honour the work and passion and re-commit to a safe, uplifting community.
In 1977, a small group of local Trent students took action to support survivors of sexual violence. Together, they put in endless volunteer hours and were able to launch the Peterborough Rape Relief Centre at Trent University. Today, 40 years later, the landscape has changed, yet the reality of sexual assault or sexual harassment remains as current today as it did in 1977. The Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre continues to be a place of safety, a place of hope, a place of respect, and a place of healing.
Trent University has changed our communities in innumerable ways, and the link between our organizations is as strong as it was 40 years ago. Our evening could not feel complete without the support of our Trent University family.
We would love to see some Trent students at the event. Purchase a $10 student ticket and come out to an amazing night of celebration!
